I've been reading two different things lately. The first is James Patterson's Alex Cross novels. I'm currently on Kiss The Girls, which is incredibly creepy, but good. I have to admit I feel strange reading about a "dark-skinned" protagonist. Most of the books I've read have white-skinned protagonist, so just Alex alone gives me a sense of reading "something new". I wonder if this says something about me or about authors at large.

The other thing is Death Note, a manga I think I heard about from frappygoddess. It's creepy. I haven't read anything like it, since I tend to prefer manga with action (Bleach, Naruto, etc.), but this is really interesting. It's good to see a more intellectual battle, even if I think they're all a little... insane.

Tomorrow I have an interview with this woman. I so do not want to go, but I need to get evidence for my thesis. Coincidentally, my thesis is due in a week. To quote a certain person, "It's not procrastination if you plan to do it at the last minute."

Speaking of, SMftS needs to end soon.

And Barça beat Arsenal. I kinda saw that coming.

It's been a bit of a while, but it's time to talk football.

Like, for example, the fact that Morientes wasn't called to play in the World Cup.

They claim because he's old. It's kind of depressing that you're labelled as "old" at 29. Of course, in a sport like football you can be old at 29.

And I'm sure there are tons of good "young" Spanish players.

Such as... Um... Well, you know, I'm sure.

Yes, I'm bitter. I was actually looking forward to see Moro. Well, I suppose, at least Raúl is still around.

And, you know, Iker. He still has a few years before they start chucking him.

Family had a huge fight so Mother's Day is cancelled tomorrow. I mean, you'd sort of think they'd just suck it up to celebrate this day, wouldn't you?

I went to see Scary Movie 4 today. Wasn't bad, had a few laughs. The best thing, however, was the fact that my friend's car has this problem so it suddenly stops. You have to really hit the peddle to start it going again, which means I spent a lot of time going,

It doesn't help that my friend never looks in front of him when he drives.

Or that we almost crashed--five times.

And almost ran over a crippled man.

On the way home, "YOU DO NOT START INSULTING AN ANGRY MOB WHEN YOUR CAR HAS SUDDEN URGES TO STOP" and "the guard is LAUGHING at you, dear. This is the second time he sees you having car problems. Yes, he is mocking you. JUST WATCH THE ROAD!"

Seriously, my life? Short.

I've added like half a dozen Naruto communities to my LJ (including a beta one), and now my flist is flooded.

I think, if I'm lucky, I can get Several Miles from the Sun to finish in four-five more chapters. Which means I no longer have to look at that fic again. Maybe I'll start another mini-chaptered Remus/Hermione.

But, now that I'm diving into the Naruto fandom, I think I might try for something chaptered there. Although, admittedly, short, maybe five chapters max. Now I just need a good plot bunny.

Tomorrow I'll be gone for most of the day. If you need me, send me an email, and I'll get back to you whenever I can.

One of these days I'll actually get back to writing meaningful entries.

First of all, to all those Japanese-speaking people on my flist, what does the term (suffix?) "taichou" mean? As in, "It's not Hitsugaya-kun. It's Hitsugaya-taichou."

Among other things:

It is hot.
I've been reminded how addicting fanfic is.
I don't want to write SMftS, which probably means my beta is going to be snippy with me.
I want to write Naruto.
I want someone to write Kiba/Sakura or Kankuro/Sakura or anyothercharacter/Sakura that isn't Sasuke/Sakura, because GOD.
I am poor.
This bloke just flicked my forehead. I didn't think people did that outside of manga.

Sigh. Back to work. And laundry. And taking care of the ill. And...

I have sold myself to the Naruto fandom. Writing fic is good. Reading it is better.

If, you know, they weren't bad-fic.

What I don't understand is how nobody can write a fic where Shikamaru captures a woman through strategy and not, you know, mushy talk. Because, duh, he's a strategist.

Callie procees to write fic to solve problem.

I also don't understand all this Itachi/Sakura hype. I mean, Itachi is a) evil and b) Sasuke's brother and c) a mass murderer. I mean, obviously, if those fics are written so should Kabuto/Sakura fics. Where Kabuto uses Sakura or vice-versa. Where there's anger and revenge and--what do you mean there are no fics like that?

Callie procees to write a fic to solve the problem.

I think I'm in trouble.

One month ago three brothers left their house with their chauffeur to go to school. On the way they noticed the police had set up a roadblock. Not uncommon in Venezuela, they slowed down, even stopping to allow the police to acknowledge that they weren't the people they were searching for.

This was not the case. The roadblock, placed by the "Policía Metropolitana", intercepted them and kidnapped them.

The ransom was so high that, in the end, the kidnappers themselves decided to lower it.

A few days ago, the three brothers and their chauffeur were found dead. All of them were killed execution style in the back of the neck. The younger brother and the chauffeur showed signs of being tortured. The country is currently is morning. And they're angry.

Yesterday people gathered in the streets to speak against the increasing number of corruption in this country. Every University in Caracas (and many outside) froze completely as the students gathered to speak against the attitude that the government officials were taking. Students from high schools stepped out of class to raise their voice against the increasing fear they had against the police.

Yesterday a journalist, 50 years old, went to the Universidad Central de Venezuela to take photographs of the students speaking against insecurity. He was driving with a chauffeur into the university when a man, passing off as a policeman (or perhaps even really a policeman) intercepted him. Unsurprised, the journalist got out of the car, ready to take pictures of the students, when the man on the motorcycle proceeded to shoot him. Four bullets were spent, three embedded on a wall, the fourth into the journalist. Before he hit the ground, the journalist managed to take a photograph of the man. The chauffeur hurried his friend into the jeep and rushed to the University's hospital. (UCV is one of the few Universities in Venezuela that practices medicine.)

The crime scene was left behind. Luckily, UCV is actually one of the smartest universities in Venezuela, and they closed off the scene complete. NOBODY was allowed onto the premises, ESPECIALLY not the police. They waited for the PTJ to arrive before releasing any evidence. I'm also pretty sure thousands of photographs were taking before.

This pisses me off, because, besides the fact it's happening in a country I happen to love, it doesn't just happen here. This problem happens everywhere. I'm surprised that I'm hearing about kidnappings in the U.S., as well as acts of violence. Everyday I received a news report from BBC, I see the words "rape", "kidnap", "murder" in the headlines. Bad news sells, I know, but it's impressive there's even that much bad news to begin with. And then, of course, there are the other countries: Iraq, Venezuela, Colombia, and so on, whose political instability hits the roof.

Have we reached the peaks of evil, or is there still a long way to go?

So, like today wasn't bad enough what with blood tests and all, but

The end of Get Backers (anime)? I don't believe it! It was, like, two seasons. And that's IT?

What about the Gods? What about Kagami fighting Ban? What about the entire sexul attraction relationship between Ban and Ginji? I refuse to believe this!

After googling episode guides....

This is so depressing. Now I have to wait for manga updates. And it's not really the same.

It is such a shame that Josh Halloway never came on to be Gambit. Or what's her name to be Kitty Pryde. Either way, totally love Kelsey Grammer. Totally love X-Men anyway.

In other news, I woke up too early to accomplish nothing. And I should be studying, but I'm not.

Card games are addicting.

So is To Kill a Mockingbird.

They're finally showing Brokeback Mountain in the cinemas here. I want to go see it because I want to see for myself if the film is actually really good or it's getting too much hype because it deals with homosexuals.

Crash won Oscar for Best Movie. It's a really good movie, and I think it deserves the award. However, to be honest, I haven't really seen any of the other films in the category, so it really isn't a fair statement.

One month until the new Zelda game comes out. I am so excited. I shall be even less online than usual.

That episode with the big truck and the Winchester brothers and the black population really, really sucked. And, you know, it was odd to see Dean sleep with a... well, girl. I need to stop losing sleep over watching that series. Hotness only goes so far.
